About Jacqi
At the age of eight, Jacqi made her professional debut singing the title song of "Free To Be You And Me" with a theater company in Doylestown PA. When interviewed by the local paper, and asked how she got the job, she simply said - I knew I had to use my "magic voice."
The Journey
Singing wasn't the only way for Jacqi to express her love for music. She began
training to be a professional dancer and took it so seriously that she transferred
from her local high school in Spotswood NJ to attend The Performing Arts School
of Philadelphia. At age sixteen she was student by day and singer/dancer by night
in the chorus of "Mame."
After graduation, Jacqi headed straight to
New York. A year later she was in her first Broadway show, "Jerry's Girls."
Though the youngest member of the show, Jacqi was given the role of standby for
Leslie Uggams and Chita Rivera. A year later she was on tour, kicking it up
with The Radio City Music Hall Rockettes in a national tour of "Can-Can" and
standing by, once again, for the incredible Chita Rivera.
Her second Broadway Show was The Tony Award
winning, "City of Angels." Part of the original cast, Jacqi played
various roles, such as Oolie/Donna and Mallory/Avril. She left the show for
the starring role of Rose, in the smash hit Off-Broadway musical "Song
of Singapore" and
can be heard on the cast album. Thrilled to be part of the Broadway community,
Jacqi also had dreams of becoming a recording artist. She produced her first
demo package and was immediately signed by Atlantic Records. After recording
her first dance single she quickly realized that she was headed in the wrong
musical direction. Jacqi walked away from the contract and went back to her
roots... Broadway.
Next, it was off to Toronto to play Ellie May Chipley in the Hal Prince, Susan
Stroman Revival of "Showboat." This highly acclaimed first National Tour
starred Cloris Leachman, Ned Beatty, Valerie Pettofrd and
many other gifted actors. After three years on the road it was time for Jacqi
to unpack her bags and shift her focus to her solo music career.
Jacqi settled in Los Angeles and without hesitation accepted the offer of back-up
singer for Barbra Streisand's Farewell Concert Tour. Inspired by her childhood
idol, Jacqi musical career continues to flourish. She currently resides
in Music City USA ~ Nashville TN and tours the world performing her one woman
show.
